- Teddy CarrMar 04, 2018★ ★ ★ ★ ★I was there for a month training to be a Texas correctional officer. It was a very very interesting experience. We had to stay on the facility grounds while we were in the training academy.They threw us in the mix to see if we could handle it. Old time hardcore convicts right with us new trainee officers. We slept in bunks will thin mattresses and sheets that were like sandpaper you might get it Lowe's or Ace Hardware. We ate in the officers dining room. The inmates in the offers dining room where supervised by Officer Minnie Houston. She was murdered by an inmate one morning in that very chow hall. She is a hero.
